Put-In  / Take-Out

The put-in and take-out might be the most difficult part of this section.

From the parking area, follow the official trail in direction to the sightseeing platform (put-out). At the highest point go left into the wood, the descent to the river is in approx. 300 m distance, not to easy to find. The boots need to be brought down with a rope.

The take-out is after the last of the two high drops. The attempt to run the following drop will lead you in a situation where you might not get out of the canyon without foreign help and short after this section you will find the un-navigable drop Salto de la Leona. For the take-out you should better be free from giddiness.

 Distance

  approx. 300 m

Gauge

LW  /  MW  /  HW

The water level and the navigability may be judged from the trail at the put-out.

Difficulty

The first drop after the put-in is technically the most difficult and may be taken as criteria if you feel to run this section or not.

Fahrtstrecke

The first drop seen from below. The water pushes into an undercut on the orographic left wall.

The canyon now gets deeper, only small drops follow. Here you should take your time to enjoy this scenery, because
the pool before the two last big drops is just ahead.

Now the last two “pleasure jumps” …

... and the fun is over.

The put-out is as exiting as the falls. The stones are quiet slippery with wet boots,  and once you will slip,
you will slide down some 15 m…
