How to get there

From São Paulo take the Rod. Anhangüera (SP 330) in direction to Campinas/Riberão Preto. After Limeira turn into the Washington Luiz (SP 310),  in direction to São José do Rio Preto. Approx. 30 km after Rio Claro exit the highway and take theSP 255 in direction Itirapina or Jaú. After 30 km you have made it: Brotas.

Henrique in the firs drop of the standard run

Brotas developed to "the Rafting-Centre" of SP in the last years. In consequence, the high season remembers a little bit the Ardeche River in France, where you may cross the river with dry feet, going from boat to boat.

Character

The Jacaraé Pepira is small river. The region is hilly, which means the river has little slope, longer flat stretches vary with short, sometimes steep, river-wide drops.

Short after the take-in the river is deviding, take the left arm. After the first rapid there is a sharp bend to the right, followed by a 1,5 m drop.

The "onda lateral"

The first drop of "tres quedas" may be run either on the left (Photo right), or you make the little jump, middle-right. Caution, in-between these two lines it is very dangerous, there is a stone below. There was one deadly accident.

Run the second of the three falls on the left. Take care at low flows, the contact with a sone in the middle is nearly unavoidable. On the very right there is also one line, but you should know it to avoid to run in a dead end.

The last drop. Take advantage of the following 200 m of rapids, before the river will end with flat water.
